Lochmueller Group is pleased to announce the acquisition of the Archaeological Research Center of St. Louis, Inc. (ARC), effective September 1, 2025. This strategic move expands Lochmueller’s cultural resource capabilities across the Midwest, reinforcing its commitment to delivering high-quality, compliant, and efficient cultural resource investigations.
Founded in 1994, ARC emerged from the University of Missouri-St. Louis Archaeological Service and has nearly five decades of experience in cultural resource management. Their expertise spans architectural surveys, prehistoric and historic archaeology, and Section 106 compliance across Missouri, Illinois, and Kansas. ARC’s seasoned team of professionals meets the Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualifications Standards (36CFR61), ensuring projects are conducted with precision and integrity.

For the time being, ARC will operate as ARC: A Lochmueller Group Company, maintaining its brand and reputation while gaining access to Lochmueller’s broader market, resources, and staff, including cultural resource experts Michael Meyer and Gary Quigg.
Joe Harl and Robin Jorcke, long-time leaders at ARC, will remain on board part-time to ensure continuity and uphold the quality of work that has defined ARC for 47 years. “We’re proud of the work we’ve done and excited to see it continue under Lochmueller’s leadership,” said Harl. “This partnership allows us to keep serving our clients with the same dedication while expanding our reach and capabilities.”
Lochmueller offers a full suite of cultural resource services, including archival reviews, Phase I surveys, Phase II testing, data recovery investigations, architectural documentation, and nominations to the National Register of Historic Places.
